Since 1832 when Henry Newton and William Winsor introduced the first moist water colours to the world, much of our reputation for supreme quality has stemmed from the Artists' Water Colour range.

Since then Artists' Water Colour continues to be formulated and manufactured according to our founding principles; to create an unparalleled water colour range which offers artists the widest and most balanced choice of pigments with the greatest possible permanence.

Each colour within this wide and balanced spectrum of 96 colours, has been selected and formulated to offer the greatest choice so that artists can use a unique palette that best suits their work.

Cotman Watercolours 8ml tube
  £2.50

The range of 40 colours are chosen according to mass tone (colour from
tube), undertone (bias of colour when in a thin film), colour strength, relative opacity and the character of the pigment itself. The resultant colour spectrum ensures the largest number of colours can be mixed.

The Cotman Water Colour range has a more uniform consistency than the Artists' Water Colour range and this benefits beginners as there is less to learn about each individual pigment. The Cotman Water Colour range also relates to the Winsor & Newton Artists' Water Colour range, e.g. Burnt Sienna in both ranges has the same hue. This enables artists to use colours from both ranges with minimal adjustment to their technique.

Distilled Turpentine Bottles & Sansodor Low Odour
From Only:   £4.65

All solvents vary in strength and their capacity to 'loosen up' the body of the colour. The artists' grade solvent with the greatest power is Distilled Turpentine, the only artists' grade solvent capable of easily dissolving Dammar resin. Turpentine makes a viscous mixture, evaporates slowly, is the most hazadous and strongest smelling solvent commonly used by artists.

Sansodor Low Odour Solvent
A low odour diluent ( thinner) an alternative to distilled turpentine.
Sansodor makes a viscous mixture, evaporates slowly, is the least hazardous, costs approximately the same as turpentine, does not deteriorate on storage and has minimal odour. This is well suited to artists who do not like the odour of turpentine.
It is ideal for persons who have breathing trouble. i.e asthma.

Artist Painting Medium & Liquin Original Bottles
From Only:   £6.10

Artist Painting Medium
This is a prepared medium that thins the colour consistency, improves flow and wetting, slows drying, increases the durability of the film and is resistant to yellowing.

Liquin Original
This reliable favourite (formerly known as just "Liquin") continues to be our most popular liquid alkyd medium. A general purpose low gloss medium which improves flow and transparency. It mixes easily with the brush or knife and smooths brushwork. Liquin Original also suits a textured oil technique.

Liquin Original will approximately half the drying time of oil colour, dependant on the proportions added. Therefore, depending on the climate, colours used, and film weight, the layer will be touch dry in anything between 1-5 days.

Liquin Mediums Impasto Tube
From Only:   £8.00

A semi-gloss, quick drying, non-yellowing impasto medium. It retains crisp textures and brush strokes without any visible levelling and extends tube colour and provides bulk. It also allows more blending time.

When dry, it forms a flexible, tough film that can be varnished in the normal way. Liquin Impasto and Liquin Oleopasto are the only mediums that safely thicken oil colour. For heavier brush work or palette knife
